Robert grew up in Stamford, CT and graduated from Westhill High School and then from Pennsylvania State University with Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering. Robert also has his Engineer in Training Certification on route to getting his Professional Engineering License. Irene grew up in Hong Kong and moved state-side in 1996 where they in high school. Irene graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Masters in Accounting. Irene currently is a Certified Public Accountant working in Stamford, while Rob is working in Shelton for an Architectural Engineering firm practicing Electrical Engineering.

Rob came across Irene in their high school classes. Having both physics and english together they started to get to know one another. Later in 1998 after graduation the two started dating over the summer months. This all started a few weeks before Rob went off to school in Pennsylvania. The two maintained a fruitful long-distance relationship through their college careers. Though it was difficult, Rob and Irene maintained and strengthen their relationship however with some very expensive phone bills.

Going back to November 2002, Rob started his creative plans for "the" engagement. Having a custom made ring (seen here) for Irene after secretly finding out her ring size, he made plans for the place and time. After convincing Irene in March of 2003 to go with him down to sunny Bonaire for spring break for their first vacation together, the plans were in motion. That Tuesday, March 11th of 2003, Rob took Irene out to dinner. It just happened to be sunset, sitting at a pinnacle table over the waterfront, at a wonderful restaurant, it was there that Rob would propose to Irene. As the sun was setting that wonderful day, Rob got down on his knees and brought out the ring and asked Irene to be his wife. Irene said yes! Irene's breath was completely taken away as this was a complete surprise for her. She had no idea that earlier the previous week that Rob had asked her father and mother for permission to marry their daughter. After a wonderful dinner and a champagne toast, the two have continued their love for each other.
